On May 23, 2025, Infineon Technologies AG and Visteon Corporation announced a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on developing next-generation powertrains for electric vehicles. The partnership was formalized in San Jose, California, and Van Buren Township, Michigan.
Advanced Power Conversion Systems
The collaboration integrates Infineon¡¯s semiconductor-based power conversion devices, focusing on wide-bandgap technologies such as gallium nitride (CoolGaN?) and silicon carbide (CoolSiC?). Compared to silicon-based semiconductors, these technologies offer higher power density, efficiency, and thermal performance, enabling cost-effective and efficient power conversion modules for the automotive industry.
Visteon¡¯s electric vehicle powertrain applications, incorporating Infineon¡¯s devices, may include battery junction boxes, DC-DC converters, and onboard chargers. The resulting powertrain systems are expected to deliver high efficiency, stability, and reliability.
