LP2178BL SOP8 Non-Isolated Buck Voltage Controller

Author : Adrian March 18, 2026

Overview

The LP2178BL is a high-efficiency, high-precision non-isolated buck switch-mode power supply constant-voltage control driver IC. It is suitable for non-isolated Buck and Buck-boost topologies with a full-range input voltage of 85 VAC to 265 VAC, and is intended for power supplies in small appliances and white goods.

The LP2178BL integrates a high-voltage power transistor and uses a constant-voltage control mode. The system can operate in CCM and DCM modes. A PFM control method is used to improve audio characteristics.

It includes a built-in peak current control that eliminates the need for a current-sense resistor. A built-in startup circuit eliminates the need for an external startup resistor. External component count is low and the design is straightforward.

The device provides multiple protection features, including VCC clamp and undervoltage protection, output short-circuit protection, inductor overcurrent protection, and thermal protection.

The LP2178BL is available in an SOP8L package.
