Electric motorcycles are widespread in the Chinese market, with numerous brands and manufacturers. These products contain batteries, motors, and electronic control units, making electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) a critical consideration. Consequently, they must pass EMC tests based on relevant standards.
Electric motorcycles intended for export must be certified by passing the tests specified in ECE R10, Revision 6.
Tests in Non-Charging Mode
- Broadband radiated emissions
- Narrowband radiated emissions
- Radiated immunity
Tests in Charging Mode
In charging mode, which involves AC/DC power, eight tests are required:
- Broadband radiated emissions
- Radiated immunity
- Harmonic current emissions from AC power lines
- Voltage fluctuations and flicker on AC power lines
- Conducted emissions on AC/DC power lines
- Conducted emissions on network and communication ports
- Electrical Fast Transient (EFT)/burst immunity on AC/DC power lines
- Surge immunity on AC/DC power lines
Radiated Immunity Test Requirements
Radiated immunity is a key mandatory test item with the following standard requirements:
- Test frequency range: 20 MHz to 2 GHz
- Field strength: 30 V/m
- Test distance: 2 meters
- Test signal:
20 MHz to 800 MHz: Amplitude Modulation (AM), 1 kHz modulation frequency, 80% modulation depth.
800 MHz to 2 GHz: Pulse Modulation (PM), 577 μs pulse width, 4600 μs period.
A radiated immunity test system primarily consists of an RF signal generator, a power meter, an RF power amplifier, an RF switch, a field probe, antennas for different frequency bands, and control software. Such a system can be used for testing electric motorcycles, electric-assisted bicycles, electric wheelchairs, forklifts, and similar equipment.
