Medtec 2025: Shanghai Medical Tech Expo Preview

July 14, 2025

The Medtec 2025 International Medical Device Design and Manufacturing Technology Exhibition will take place from September 24¨C26 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, Halls 1 and 2. This event serves as a comprehensive platform for medical device design, research, development, and production solutions, fostering technical innovation and ecosystem collaboration in the global medical device industry.

Supply Chain Transformation and Market Opportunities

The medical device industry in China is undergoing significant transformation, driven by cost-effective domestic alternatives and equipment upgrade initiatives. From January to April 2025, key market segments showed substantial growth: medical imaging equipment increased by 106%, radiation therapy equipment by 83%, surgical equipment by 80%, life support systems by 73%, and in-vitro diagnostics by 44%. This surge reflects a broader trend toward equipment modernization, presenting opportunities to enhance the Chinese medical device industry¡¯s capabilities.

Major global buyers, including Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson, Siemens China, Stryker, Philips Healthcare, and Abbott Diagnostics, have expressed interest in attending, seeking new technologies, equipment, and materials. The event will also attract companies like Baxter, Boston Scientific, B. Braun, Olympus, Terumo, and MicroPort, indicating strong demand for innovative solutions and reliable supply chains.

A concurrent event, the ADTE High-End Active Medical Equipment Technology Exhibition, will focus on three core component categories: chips, sensors, integrated circuits, connectors, wiring harnesses, power supplies, motors, and software; CT tubes, detectors, high-voltage generators, AI, and smart healthcare solutions; and optical components, endoscope parts, lasers, and imaging technologies. This will facilitate targeted connections between exhibitors and buyers.

Expanded Exhibition and Industry Coverage

Medtec 2025 will span 45,000 square meters across two halls. Hall 1 will focus on manufacturing services and equipment, showcasing automated production lines, precision machining, and testing equipment. Hall 2 will highlight medical materials and core components, including biomaterials, sensors, and electronic components. With over 1,000 exhibitors, the event will cover the entire medical device development and production chain, offering a platform for technical exchange and business collaboration.

The exhibition will enable companies to engage directly with industry decision-makers through product launches and technical demonstrations, addressing the needs of medical device manufacturers and research institutions.

Sustainability in Exhibition Design

Medtec 2025 introduces the "Better Stand" concept, emphasizing sustainable booth design to reduce environmental impact. These booths use eco-friendly materials and recyclable elements to minimize waste while maintaining safety and efficiency. This initiative aligns with global sustainability goals and enhances exhibitor participation through cost-effective, environmentally responsible solutions.

Industry Summit: Navigating Innovation and Trends

The 2025 Medtec International Medical Device Supply Chain Ecosystem Summit will address key industry trends, including policy-driven innovation, technological advancements like AI and robotics, and supply chain localization alongside global expansion. The summit will feature eight core themes: active medical devices, manufacturing processes, material innovations, R&D design, regulatory compliance, consumer healthcare, market and procurement strategies, and supporting activities.

The event will explore the full spectrum of medical device development, from design to production, and address challenges and opportunities for global market expansion. R&D leaders from companies like Evant, DNP, LePure, Yin Zhi, BMF, and Rosti, along with scholars from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Sichuan University, and Southeast University, will share insights and research findings, fostering collaboration and innovation.
