Overview
A touchscreen is a type of human-machine interface. Internally it comprises both hardware and software. Different manufacturers provide different GT configuration software. For a specific touchscreen model, download the manufacturer's configuration software from their website. PLC interaction with touchscreens is a common requirement in industrial control.
Hardware Block Diagram
The hardware architecture is generally similar across manufacturers. A typical signal path is:
analog input -> auto-tracking -> data hold -> comparator -> SAR logic -> N-bit DAC -> comparator
The N-bit DAC outputs data (serial or parallel) which is routed to the data input of a high-performance variable frequency drive (VFD) equipped with a PG card, enabling a range of multifunction settings and runtime modifications.
