Overview
Facial recognition turnstiles are widely used pedestrian access control devices, commonly deployed for entry and exit management and access control. A typical system consists of the pedestrian turnstile, a facial recognition terminal, and facial recognition software.
Typical Components
- Pedestrian turnstile
- Facial recognition terminal
- Facial recognition software system
- Linked cards
- LED display
- Computer
- Network switch
- ID card reader (optional)
Application: Construction Sites
On construction sites, facial recognition turnstiles are used for access control and attendance tracking. Typical workflow and configuration:
- Workers pre-register facial photos. When a face is recognized at the turnstile, the system determines whether the person is an authorized site worker and opens the gate accordingly. The system can display trade and access information on an LED screen and logs entry and exit records for attendance purposes.
- An ID card reader can be configured. When a worker uses an ID card, the system compares the card data with the facial data and can automatically add the worker to a whitelist. Subsequent entries can be completed by face recognition alone, and the system continues to log records and display information on the LED screen.
- Recommended configuration includes: pedestrian turnstile, facial recognition terminal, facial recognition software system, linked cards, LED display, computer, network switch, and optional ID card reader.
Application: Factories
In factories, facial recognition turnstiles are primarily used for employee attendance and visitor management. Typical workflow and configuration:
- Internal employees pre-register facial photos. During passage, the system captures and compares faces to verify internal staff and open the gate, while logging entry and exit records for attendance tracking. External visitors register at the security office, where a facial photo and an expiration period are recorded; they then use the facial recognition turnstile for access, and the system logs their records for later review.
- A visitor registration terminal can be used alongside the system to allow external personnel to self-register visitor information and enable facial recognition access while logging records.
- Recommended configuration includes: pedestrian turnstile, facial recognition terminal, facial recognition software system, optional network camera, and optional visitor registration terminal.
