Initially PCBs were designed manually by creating a photomask on a clear mylar sheet, usually at two or four times the true size. Starting from the schematic diagram the component pin pads were laid out on the mylar and then traces were routed to connect the pads. If you have many questions of PCB Design, please come here!

Can anyone suggest a method to use Kicad for a rigid-flex design? My conceptual design is a flexible circuit with a smaller 1 layer rigid pcb adhered to the top of flexible circuit. The top copper would be connected to the bottom copper of the flex circuit with a PTH. My top, rigid copper does not need to connect to the inner flex copper, and no blind vias, which makes it easier to indicate plate through. However, I will have SMD parts on all "exposed" copper layers. But Kicad does not let me rename or rearrange the layers. All the copper layers are in the middle of the board. Anyone can help me for this problem?
