If I make smaller traces, will there be ant danger? Is there anything to be gained by making them thicker?

The pcb house will deliver their minimum standard track & spacing if it is professional. Some will let you do some change and try finer at your risk, while some will reject your work outright if under spec.

Do you really need that small? If yes,do as you like, and they will deliver. If not, go bigger trace as the assembler do not have much soldering experience.
