How Can I connect SMD components to ground plane?

SMD components PCB design

I have some SMD components,but do you know the best way to connect them to ground plane?How about ground plane on both top and bottom with many vias connecting the two?

I use solid contiguous to connect to ground plane secondly.And how many ground plane I will use is depends on cost.Splits in ground planes can explain why top and bottom outer layer ground planes are a waste.

As far as I am concerned,the ground plane should be as solid as possible,thus,I recommend to put the GND plane at the bottom or in an inner layer.
